Lloyd Pettit, a broadcaster for the Chicago Black Hawks, and his wife Jane Bradley Pettit bought the Milwaukee Admirals in 1976 and set it to play in the IHL in 1977. They divorced in 1998. He died five years later, on November 11, 2003.
The franchise was bought in 2005 by Gord Ash, Mark Attanasio, Ben Sheets and Harris Turer.
Like father, like son, his son Doug Pettit also became a broadcaster, working for the Admirals.
